Operational Context
Within the NSLS-II Data Science and Systems Integration group, I contributed to network and computing improvements supporting accelerator operations and controls services.
Architecture
The environment moved toward an infrastructure-as-a-service model using centralized virtualization and lifecycle tooling. vCenter supported virtual-server deployment and resource management, while RHEL Satellite supported consistent Linux configuration and maintenance.
Impact
Centralization improved deployment repeatability, scalability, visibility, and recovery while strengthening administrative control over critical system components. The work helped move controls services away from isolated hosts and toward managed infrastructure.
