What It Models
The project simulates environmental disturbances, a master oscillator, laser phase behavior, feedback control, and loss-of-lock protection as separate cooperating EPICS soft IOCs. Each process communicates through PVs, reflecting the boundaries of an operational distributed control system rather than hiding the entire plant inside one script.
Adaptive Control and Safety
The controller adjusts bounded PID gains based on observed error behavior, applying more aggressive correction during larger excursions while relaxing as the system settles. A separate process monitors lock quality and initiates the simulated safe response independently of the adaptive controller.
Maturity
This is an implemented simulation and digital-twin prototype. It exercises representative plant behavior and operational interfaces, but it does not claim continuous synchronization with one specific production timing asset.
